Traditionally, during production the purifier catches the heaviest vapours which means that Ardbeg is not just “all peat” but gets a supremely balanced taste. For the release of this batch the purifier was removed from the distillation process before being matured in classic Ardbeg casks. And this whisky is the consequence.
