What does Merlot taste like?
Merlot is a dry, medium to full-bodied wine. Merlot has a moderate acidity, moderate to high alcohol with soft, but present tannins. There is a range of flavour with Merlot wines such as graphite, herbs and blackberries, black cherries, plums, and cocoa. These flavours are usually layered with notes of clove, vanilla, and cedar when aged in oak.
How should you serve Merlot?
Merlot is best served at room temperature or after 15 minutes in the fridge. Too warm can make the flavours muddled, while too cold can mute the flavours and aromas. If you don't finish your bottle of merlot, you can just replace the cork and stick it back in the fridge for up to 4 days before it starts to oxidize.
