This wine is medium to deep brick red in colour and opens with perfumed fruits, showing blue exotic florals, pomegranate and cranberry, with milk chocolate and liquorice depth. The palate is medium weighted with a fresh, tight acidity carrying through. Stylish, approachable and very drinkable. This wine is enjoyable now or will cellar for 15+ years.

In 1966, Australian Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies announced at the annual Adelaide Stock Exchange Dinner that the Yalumba 1961 Galway Vintage Reserve Special Claret was “the best red wine he had ever tasted” and suggested everyone raise their glasses to this fine achievement. This was the sort of acknowledgement that Windy Hill-Smith wasn’t about to let fall on deaf ears, so he decided to rebadge the subsequent 1962 Galway Reserve Claret as The Signature Reserve, bearing the name of<br />founder Samuel Smith. Since then, the ‘sentimental favourite’ has acknowledged the contribution of more than 56 signatories.
