Houghton was founded in 1836 by a syndicate of three British Army Officers and named after the most senior of the three-Lieutenant Colonel Richmond Houghton. Throughout its history, Houghton has built an enviable reputation shaping the Western Australian winemaking landscape. Cabernet Shiraz Merlot. Houghton Red Classic is a medium bodied, easy drinking blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. Delicious fruit flavours of plum, blackcurrant and dark cherry combine with subtle vanilla and spice derived from oak maturation.
